Cassius marketplace:

for those that have forgotten:
Spoiler:

After exploring miles of tunnels beneath the frozen, inhospitable wasteland of Kamchatka, you will eventually reach a place in which it seems the only way forward is to jump into a bottomless abyss. A person of Cassius blood would feel the collective mental energies of his brothers and sisters on the other side of the void, telling them, 'it's safe, you're one of us' and make the leap of faith to find that the pit was an illusion- the reality was that is was the grand entrance to the first level of the echochamber maw guarded by two Vozhd siblings. The illusion- a distorted miasma of projected thought maintained by a chorus of Cytherian telepaths and Tierisch Simulacra masters who are posted 24/7 Occasionally a telepath will drop out of the chorus and die from exhaustion/the energy drain. This is of no concern to the Cytherians who often conscript those who have proven themselves unworthy of combat roles to show their worth for the Brotherhood Cassius. There are plenty more where they came from, each one eager to put their life on the line to ascend in status... or to stave off an even more painful death by torture and execution.
The alcove is composed of a large sprawl of earth/stone based structures, bio- organic constructs, and wandering Vozhd. There are tunnel entrances everywhere to deeper parts of the Maw. The chamber is bathed in eternal twilight and the 'sky' looks like a sea of fireflies instead of stars- being deep within the earth, these are of course not stars but living bioluminescent creatures created by the Vozhd. They live by processing the noxious gasses from the earth and converting it into something useable by the Casii circulatory system (even so many Cassii elect to use encounter suits/ gas masks when walking in public). The background radiation also gets absorbed by the outer cover of these featureless glowing slugs and when they die, the Thanatos ride a crawling Vozhd to the ceiling and collect the dead husks of the creatures while seeding newborn ones. The dead husks which are highly radioactive, are processed by the Thanatos for fuel cells in cold fusion reactors.

Lya'kstyx'/ Negeterex' shop:
Location: Echochamber Maw, Alcove of the Kindred
Shopkeep: Lya'kstyx'[Vozhd]
Assistants: Haradan (Adam) [Brutus, slave], Lilly [clanless, slave]

Items available: None at this time

Merchant Description:
Lya'kstyx' and Negeterex are two siblings who are among the most ancient of the Vozhd that still choose to remain near the surface. Their more massive, city engulfing bretheren have descended deeper into the Maw to shift the flow of molten volcanic rock to shape the creation of new caverns. They could have easily grown to several times their current size but have again chosen not to. Instead they have taken on the duty of the sentinels of the gate.

An eternity of guarding a gate that is never invaded can be quite boring. So Lya'kstyx' set up a shop as a sort of welcome mat for returning Cassii. His/her/its duties keeping him anchored to the Alcove's gates, it is forever poring over tomes and records of the outside world and has a constant hunger for new information. Buxxors still have value in Cassius society but not in the way that hard commodities might. Lya'kstyx' is highly intelligent although slightly neurotic from being consigned to live in one place all the time. The Vozhd bears the appearance of an amorphous 5 meter tall 30 meter long chitinous multi appendaged insect/centipede housing a faceless black void at its 'head' which sometimes glows with strange energies. There was a time that Lya'kstyx' did not have a mouth and so spoke like many other Vozhd in their nigh incomprehensible speech. However centuries of biological modification have allowed Lya'kstyx' to control a vibrating membrane in his body to mimick many sounds including a human voice (although it is distorted, often out of pitch, desynched and unnatural sounding). Lya' is normally seen in his corner on the left side of the gate (if you're facing the gate from inside) coiled up over piles of books, datalogs, scrolls, and other recording medium, reading or observing. Eager to engage in conversation with any Cassius who happens to start one.
Negeterex' on the other hand is a stoic wathdog who has no interest in anything other than his single minded purpose of guarding the gate. While Lya' has been known to retreat to the study to administer the shop or rest, Nege is a permanent fixture, moving only to post guard at Lya's position to allow his normal post to be serviced. It is rumoured that ages ago, he single handedly blasted a Magi combat vessel out of high orbit from a grounded position on the planet. The veracity of this fact is debated as Lya' won't talk about it and Nege won't talk at all and is the subject of colloquial jokes. Negeterex is wyvern like in appearance with a large two mouthed maw. His head is arrayed with many small black eyes arranged in two rows on the left and two large cavities for specialized long range sensory organs on the right. He has four wings, and rows of clawed and barbed legs. He is purpose built for combat and has long since lost manipulators that would be used for fine motion control and must eat through a large dish. Gratefully he is kept clean by symbiotic creatures that live on his massive form. He is slightly larger than Lya'. By their appearance it is hard to believe they both started as 'ordinary' human beings. Nege is and always has been male, Lya's gender is open to debate as Lya' itself cannot remember nor cares as Vozhd of that age cease to be capable of producing viable offspring except by asexual biogenesis and then usually only to create 'helper' organisms that are not actually a Vozhd.

The Assistants:

Haradan (Adam), age 34, is a captured Julian Brutus who was left behind in an epic last stand by his team. He alone survived the final assault and was captured by the Cassius detachment upon encroaching upon his position. Renamed Haradan and tortured until his will was eroded and his memory erased, he performs the heavy lifting in Lya's shop. He can occasionally remember his name was Adam but he knows that escape is pointless and that he's 'better off' serving the siblings. He is 6 foot 4 with large rippling muscles and several permanent scars on his biceps and face where skin was hastily grafted to burn marks. His hair is blonde and is shaved close to a military cut. He is usually wearing a black and brown encounter suit for dealing with volatile equipment. His owners allow him to grow a beard if he desires.

Lilly, age 11, is a 'farm raised' slave, born in captivity specifically to be a human slave. Is scrawny, Has dark brown hair, hazel eyes and a pale complexion. When the slaver she belonged to was killed she wandered aimlessly through the Maw somehow avoiding capture, injury or consumption and nearly died from neglect until Lya' heard her crying underneath the shop in a service corridor. Frightened by Lya's alien appearance, she remained in the cramped crawlspace for days until Lya' left food he had been gifted by some Tierisch in the study. Drawn out by smell of food, Lilly found the study and began greedily eating the food, she was almost finished by the time she noticed that Lya' was curled up in the corner of the study reading a book and eating a nutrient supplement. Lilly was then told by Lya' that if she wanted to stay, she would have to work and that the shop needed someone whose hands were small to operate delicate machinery and computerized systems from the surface and lost technology that sometimes made its way to the siblings. She keeps to the inside of the shop which has purified air since few encounter suits exist in her size, she wears a basic beige work tunic which is heavily stained and shoes made of Vozhd chitin so she can traverse the often volatile chemicals that spill in the shop and in town. She will work on computers or any mechanism that requires fine tuning and that's too small or delicate for Haradan to use. She feels well treated and has no desire to escape. She has no knowledge of the world outside other than what the Cassius tell her.
