The Kypris

The Kypris are the outcasts of the Julii. In theory, the Kypris are not even a clan of the Julii, and rather of the Casii. They are distinctive in that the members are former Casii that have been brainwashed into doing the bidding of the Julii. Often they are given access to many weapons that increase the effectiveness of their abilities, and some very high leveled ones with telekenesis are allowed to control Monastery mechs as if they were puppets with strings. Most often, the members of this clan are amnesiacs, with snippets of their past often haunting them and making their powers go array. Being heavily sedated by Julii as a precaution, the psychic abilities of the Kypris are normally less powerful than their kin in the Cassius, but are compensated with all the shiny weapons you can hold Very Happy

Every Kypris is an amnesiac. They may have occasional flashbacks, but for the most part, they remember nothing. Being former members of Cassius clans, every Kypris also has psychic abilities. Thoough these are all heavily toned down versions of their former powers, they do their part. As compensation for their weaker powers, the Kypris have access to all the modern technological advances that Julius clans have made. These include but are not limited to the following: Robotic parts for undead minions, miniguns mounted to a vozhd’s back, or replacing its arm, or beam rifles for invisible arms. The possibilities are seemingly endless.

Exclusive Traits…

Every Kypris is donned with psychic powers. Though the Kypris can practically do anything, they normally specialize in one particular ability, such as having invisible arms, necromancy, blowing things up, etc. The Kypris also come with one freebee weapon that acts as somewhat of an amplifier of the Kypris’ powers.

Suddenly, in the heat of battle, your sedated state fades and you turn back into a feral Cassius warrior, but this time with weapons. You will destroy anything in your way, and devour their corpses, figuratively speaking…unless you’re like that >_>. In a battle, when you want to activate this attribute, you must first use your last action in the current round as an "Activate OMFG" action. The action should be used describing the Kypris' descent/ascension into a Cassius monster. It is similar to the Activate Brooklyn Rage assist action in that both count as assist actions, however, the activate OMFG action does not need an outside party member to induce. When activated, the GM rolls a di, and the amount rolled is the amount of dice added to your muscle roll for two rounds of combat thereafter. This attribute cannot be purchased with the skill Zawesomeness, as putting the two together in one body is like mixing together the powers of sulfuric acid and thermite Very Happy

Bonus: 3 Creation Points
you had a very disturbing life before your brainwashing. You are so disturbed in the head that often, parts of your past come back to haunt you, and at the worst times at that. Every round of combat, the GM will roll a di. If it comes up 2 or lower, your character has an immediate haunting past experience, and must spend their first action recovering from it. The remainder of your character’s actions may be spent battling again, but their attack is reduced to half.

Addition to Psychic Powers: Kypris vs Kypris- Kypris can remotely sense other Kypris nearby; so long as their powers have not been completely inhibited by drugs or technology.
Level 5 and higher Kypris can speak to each other when uninhibited telepathically.
Level 9 and higher can eavesdrop on these convesations.
Level 12 and higher can overcome most basic inhibitors without much effort and will require much greater power to stop.
Level 20+ rival the most ancient elders of the Kypris.

Equipment
Psionic Neural Inhibitor: As a consequence of their brainwashing and past lives as enemies of the Julii, a control mechanism was necessary to ensure a certain level of obedience and order. Although a few former Casii, sought out the asylum of the Julian clans willingly, some were forced to convert. Typically it was deemed more humane for certain Casius prisoners of war to be converted into Kypris rather than be executed. This way they could work off their debt to humanity and their skills became of use to ther former enemies. For this reason, few Kypris exist as civilians and those that do are required to either submit to a weekly dosage of a mild neurotoxin that inhibits their Cassius psionic abilities and repressed memories or equip themselves with a neural inhibitor. The inhibitors and the drug were designed by the Harbingers after early experiments ended violently. The first Kypris would often murder their keepers and were driven to suicide after their pasts would resurface or their abilities, enhanced and exaggerated by Julian technology would cascade out of control. Kypris who exist in the Julian military and have passed the requirement for mental stability and loyalty can apply to have a removable and adjustable inhibitor while those that regress often or are civilians may have an implant.
Types:
STANDARD:
This is standard issue on a Kypris and costs nothing. It can be anything really. Could be a 400 lb backpack full of psychic cancelling gear... Could be a bluetooth looking thing, could be a medikit of drugs with a datalogger you have to take, or like J' it could be a pair of glasses. DO NOT LOSE IT. If you do and you are caught without one in a Julian city, (City defenders usually contain at least one Kypris used as a living radar) you will be arrested and made to comply. The same goes with unauthorized removal of the device and unlawful use of your Cassius powers. This draconian measure has lead some more radical elements to voice their concern that the Kypris are subtly a slave subclass to the rest of the Julian clans. This means there is an uneasy trust between the Kypris and the Harbingers who enforce the laws.

CYBERVIRAL IMPLANT (involuntary) (+2 creation pts): If you choose this as your default inhibitor, for whatever reason, you have been implanted with an advanced cybervirus by the Harbingers (this defect will not count towards your total defects/ attributes). It is out of your direct control and its level of inhibition is directly controlled by the government you claim citizenship with or the organization with custody of you. This means your powers can be shut down completely against your will and you cannot get away with doing anything unlawful even if it's with good intentions. This system is typically the means by which criminals who abuse their powers are punished.


Kypris elders: The conversion process is different for each Cassius and newer methods don't create nearly as powerful individuals as the first. There are rumors that some of the oldest of the Kypris continue to roam the world. There exists a constant background noise in the sensory input of all Kypris. It is there even when there are no Kypris for hundreds of miles. They knowemanates from the Earth. Many have tried pinpointing this individual or group of individuals. Theyve come close.. but if the Kypris psychic radar were compared to a sea of candles, these are lighthouses that flicker on and off on the horizon. You know they are there, but they are gone before you can reach them.

Kypris Bio notes: the Vozhd: due to the unorthodox nature of the Kypris their psionics are granted by the mutations in the telepathic abilities of the Cassius, however it is inadvisable to have a previous life as a Vozhd since their minds are so alien and they wouldn't fit well in Julian society. However if you can find a damn good reason, who am I to stop you. Just remember it will be very hard for a GM to accept you into a Julian campaign in which you are all goodguys somehow. You will also have been 'shrunken' so that your biomass resembles that of a normal human being and your grotesque form somewhat normalized. You may still appear slightly unnatural but not so much so as to be indecent.
