Re: Magic: The Gathering
But then you'd need four xD
It's literally the most expensive deck I've ever thought up.
Speaking of decks, I just spent the last 2 and a half hours helping this one dude reconstruct his monogreen. He's a really cool guy. Almost has every card in worldwake. He thought I was in college though, which is pretty funny.
And what's even funnier is my wallfolk deck did better than my level up today. Even though my level up redeemed itself in my game 3 and got me an easy win
How'd you do Joseph?

Re: Magic: The Gathering
Lost two rounds to a Jund deck. Got mana screwed pretty badly. -___-
Then second game I played a guy with an insane Landfall deck. He had Lotus Cobras, Oracles of Mul Daya, Explores and just about four of every card needed to play like 5 lands a turn. Then he nailed me with 16 6/7 plant tokens. It was intense xD
I had the advantage on round two... but then my dad called me in. So I didn't get to kill him off and I had to concede. Still, good day. I got enough cards to probably update my Exalted deck and my red/black burn... I'm pretty thrilled.

Re: Magic: The Gathering
Awesome. Yeah my first game against jund killed all my creatures with bolts and maelstrom nexus before they could get big. Then I played this grixis deck that made me discard my entire hand before I could get anything out and I got cruel ultimatumed twice. And the things I did get out got terminated.
My third game I won in 3. He ran monogreen. We became friends and talked for hours (literally). Then they handed me an fnm elvish visionary

Re: Magic: The Gathering
Lucky, I want an Elvish Visionary. D: If I had a couple of those and some Joraga Treespeakers, I might actually make an Elf deck with Nissa. Still, yeah.
The Jund deck I played was actually in a bit of a pinch; big mana pocket. But if I had gotten out my Transmuter earlier, it would've been a hell of a lot better. Oh well.

Re: Magic: The Gathering
So I'm kind of pissed at myself. Round one of the Double headed tournament, Kris and I would have won if I had demystified a drake umbra on this guy's kiln fiend, instead of demystifying a narcolepsy on my merfolk skyscout -_-. One turn, one mistake, and it was all over....And, of course, they ended up getting first place.
Round 2 we won. Nothing too exciting in that game.
And round 3 we lost to a bunch of unblockable weenies comboed with raid bombardment. Not fun. So we ended up getting 6th place out of 8. Best pulls of the night were a foil awakening zone (apparently goes for 17.90) that I pulled and Kris kept, eldrazi conscription which Kris pulled and I kept, a non foil awakening zone that Kris pulled and I kept, and an It That Betrays that I think I pulled, and kept.

Re: Magic: The Gathering
Idunno, after I told my parents I spent $40 "registering for the tournament", they're a little iffy on letting me stay. I told them registering for DCI was "a one-time fee of $30 and the tournament's $10", so hopefully it won't be as bad. Maybe not this week, I'll ask again next week.

Re: Magic: The Gathering
I hadn't realized I bought that many packs
And including the registration, I spent approximately $35, and I had $5 left. So rounded up, I lost forty life—I mean dollars.

Well done XD
And so I officially signed up for the rewards program. Just in time, too. Next week will be my fifth sanctioned event, and the summer cards get shipped early July, so I'll be just in time to get my first textless card and plastic membership license thingy.

Re: Magic: The Gathering
I'm kind of timid to say this, but I'm still trying to crack Tarmogoyf. Everyone seems to see amazing potential in it, except me...
I see a 0/1 for 2 on turn 2 that, if not dealt with, turns into an 8/9 late game (if someone's got tribals, of course). I mean I admit, that's pretty great. But why is it friggin going for the price of 1 and a half Gideons? Am I not seeing some epic combo?
Oh, so my cards came in today. I've only tested the monogreen, and Jesus Christ is it ridiculous. I got this one hand (probably from not shuffling well enough) where I had like all my mana accelerators and I basically got two khalni hydras out by turn 5 with one attacking, and the other one costing 0 to cast. And on another hand, by turn 4 or 5 I had an attacking 33/33 trample and a not of this world in my hand (I'm gonna put 4 in and most likely extend it to a 64 card deck) in case they did something fishy. What sucks though is that I'm low on lands. I actually had to proxy forests with the rules cards xDDDDDD And I have no plains, so I can't test my bant deck. It needs 8 :\ Maybe I'll go somewhere with Matthew today and I'll be able to get them.

Re: Magic: The Gathering
Yeah, I don't know about Tarmogoyf. I'm not seeing whatever it is about it either.
Also, it's strictly worse than Storm Crow.
Did you know before Worldwake came out, Bojuka Bog went for $20 a piece? I had 4 of them and could have easily gotten myself a Tarmogoyf, but then it was too late.
And nice. So the deck's a success?

Re: Magic: The Gathering
Eyy Matthew.
So I found some cards that help you find Dark Depths. Best part of it is that they cost less than a demonic tutor XDDD Both mana wise and money wise. Check them out here. They're called Crop Rotation, Into the North and Expedition Map. The reason other things like Rampant Growth won't work is because you can only get basic lands with them, and Dark Depths is far from basic. And another alternative to demonic tutor is beseech the queen. It can essentiallly cost one less mana than diabolic tutor and is far less expensive than a demonic tutor, so yeah,
